By creating companies on each of the target markets, 3DS OUTSCALE guarantees data sovereignty and security in accordance with local regulations in the country where the companies are based. This is the continuation of the promise to be a multi-local trusted cloud.

With Trusted Cloud labelling, 3DS OUTSCALE relies in particular on its state-of-the-art technology and its certifications which correspond to the most rigorous standards.

Finally, 3DS OUTSCALE is also developing its own orchestration software, TINA OS, guaranteeing complete control of the Cloud. This software is designed to orchestrate and automate all of the Cloud resources.

David Chassan, Chief Strategy officer at 3DS OUTSCALE comments: “The adoption of Cloud Computing and the huge potential for the growth of the global market puts us in a strong position. We want to make 3DS OUTSCALE the reference in terms of sovereign and trusted Cloud, for private or public organisations who want to ensure that their data is stored in complete security. Our internationalisation proves that we are aware of the innovations that form our ecosystem today. This approach fosters the ambition to meet the needs of the markets addressed as well as possible, but also to identify the promising technologies of tomorrow.

Welcome to CLOUD DAYS 2021, the annual conference of 3DS OUTSCALE

Saint-Cloud, 1 June 2021 – 3DS OUTSCALE, the Cloud subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, was set up 10 years ago with the mission of creating a Cloud that is hyper-trusted, sovereign and based on excellence. A vision supported at the European and international level, made possible by the attention paid to technological realities and the expectations of companies and administrative authorities. Today, as a benchmark and trusted player, 3DS OUTSCALE opens its annual CLOUD DAYS conference which gathers experts and professionals of its ecosystem. A number of strategic announcements will be made during the course of this event.

2021 is the year in which collective awareness of the strategic value of data and the digital responsibility of organisations and institutions took hold. Today, boosted by the health crisis, the importance of the Cloud in digital transformation is no longer a question, but now an obvious fact. In the face of threats, public and private organisations are seeking guarantees of security and transparency. Accordingly, in order to meet various security and CSR regulatory requirements, adopting a hyper-trusted cloud is becoming a priority for organisations that are highly aware of the importance of protecting their resources.

In order to meet these challenges and imagine the Cloud of tomorrow, 3DS OUTSCALE, a Dassault Systèmes Cloud subsidiary, is organising the 7th edition of its CLOUD DAYS event.

3 strategic announcements will be made during the day:

1/ Established trust, controlled security 3DS OUTSCALE is positioned as a recognised provider of hyper-trusted Cloud services.

2/ Marketplace, the trusted ecosystem by 3DS OUTSCALE: to continue to offer a quality and extensive personalised Cloud experience, 3DS OUTSCALE is launching its Marketplace and is bringing leading partners on board for this purpose.

3/ CSR and social commitments: Alongside all of its stakeholders (customers, prospects, partners, employees), 3DS OUTSCALE is striving to offer a responsible Cloud, and thus is supporting sustainable innovation that respects current and future generations, and announces the renewal of its LUCIE 26000 certification.

“Since 2010, we have been championing the sovereign cloud by meeting the highest security requirements. Our Cloud technology contributes to the strategic digital autonomy in France and in Europe. And we are proud to support the digital transformation of companies and institutions with a unique Cloud: the Hyper-Trust Cloud.” says Laurent Seror, CEO and founder of 3DS OUTSCALE.

1/ Established trust, controlled security

The government has announced that the trusted cloud must become the essential technological foundation for organisations, particularly public administrations. With a market estimated to be worth €560 billion in 2030, the cloud is a strategic issue on which Europe and France must assert themselves in order to provide the best global cloud services while protecting the data of French and European citizens.

This new “Trusted Cloud” label has been consistent with the positioning and values of 3DS OUTSCALE since its creation. Given that it is based on the SecNumCloud security visa as well as on infrastructures located and operating in Europe, 3DS OUTSCALE is the player most aligned with the national plan for the Cloud announced by Bruno Le Maire.

3DS OUTSCALE, sovereign and trusted DNA in a multi-local version

3DS OUTSCALE sees the Cloud as a fundamental element in the digital transformation of companies, public institutions and society. Transparent as well as sovereign, it is a French-registered entity that operates in data processing on French territory.

The company offers its know-how, approved by the most demanding certifications issued by trusted third parties, to validate its approaches, organisations and services. These ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, HDS (Health Data), and SecNumCloud certifications, issued by ANSSI since 2019, provide companies and institutions with a commitment to excellence in terms processes and security.

Constantly at the forefront of the sector, 3DS OUTSCALE is a committed and responsible player, whose vision is to offer Cloud technologies that make responsible and sustainable innovation possible, and that place people at the heart of technological concerns for current and future generations. This momentum was rewarded by the renewal of the LUCIE 26000 label.

3DS OUTSCALE is a founding member of GAIA-X and aims to create an ecosystem of trusted data and infrastructure in Europe. Security, transparency and interoperability thus enable European companies to be ever more competitive at global level.

On a French and European scale, 3DS OUTSCALE offers a Cloud that it has mastered and that meets the highest requirements already operating with the government and in cities.

A SecNumCloud qualified cloud that increases its availability

 The SecNumCloud region has a second sovereign availability zone (AZ) for greater availability and resiliency.

The SecNumCloud qualified Public Sector Cloud offer is therefore evolving, guaranteeing customers high availability and resiliency, thus ensuring business continuity.

The two availability zones are securely interconnected and comply with all the security measures dictated by the SecNumCloud label. The customer can choose to deploy its resources in different AZs in order to isolate them from each other in the physical infrastructure, and thus reduce risks.

This SecNumCloud region, with a second availability zone, will be operational in September 2021.

The “TINA on-Premise” Cloud offer is in the process of being ISO 27001 certified

Referred to by Gartner as among the “Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2020”, the Distributed Cloud is the first Cloud model that includes in its definition the physical location of the services provided by the Cloud.

After being deployed in France and India, TINA on-Premise is in the process of obtaining ISO 27001 certification, which qualifies all management processes and data security systems.

Outscale Inc. on the road to Excellence for multi-local trust

Reinforcing the recognition of OUTSCALE’s Cloud Excellence in each of the operational geographical areas, the Outscale Inc. entity, operating in the United States, meets the requirements of the ITAR regulation for the receipt, processing and storage of data and software for the aerospace, defence and government sectors. Outscale Inc. has adopted a security framework based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171, which details the security controls required to protect unclassified controlled information.

Outscale Inc. implements security controls at all levels. Physical security and access control policies ensure the safety of assets and people, while preventing unauthorised physical access to offices and data centres.

Employees and service providers receive regular training in the security policy throughout their careers.

The US entity is also in the process of obtaining ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system.

This international security standard consists of verifying the security of the information system’s tools and processes and validating the compliance of the Cloud Platform’s information security management systems with the most stringent industry requirements

2/ Marketplace, a trusted ecosystem by 3DS OUTSCALE :

In order to continue to offer a quality and extensive personalised Cloud experience, 3DS OUTSCALE launches its Marketplace this year. The 3DS OUTSCALE Marketplace allows us to offer a catalogue of reliable and compatible solutions, respecting the quality-of-service requirements of 3DS OUTSCALE. A one-stop shop to access the best turnkey Cloud services supported by approved vendors and partners and available on the 3DS OUTSCALE sovereign Cloud. The 3DS OUTSCALE Marketplace is intended to be an accelerator for the emergence of IT solutions. The latter is intended to enable French and European players to benefit from the guarantee of a sovereign ecosystem.

Carefully selected for the technology and quality of their products and services, 3DS OUTSCALE’s partner publishers make their know-how available to end customers through the Marketplace, guaranteeing them solutions hosted on a secure Cloud infrastructure and benefiting from sovereignty labels.

 OUTSCALE Marketplace allows share software solutions from different publishers to be shared in a new way. The Marketplace, a true ecosystem of trusted technology players around the Cloud and its SaaS and PaaS offerings, aims to:

  • Support a strategic, innovative sector with high economic potential;
  • Enhance and develop the skills related to this sector;

Finally, OUTSCALE Marketplace contributes directly to the acceleration of the development of technological offers by French and European companies, and to the support of the security and defence of governance of data of citizens and industry. All the proposed solutions are based on the reliable, secure and sovereign Cloud of 3DS OUTSCALE.

OUTSCALE Marketplace is available from 1 June 2021 on https://marketplace.outscale.com. More than 17 solutions are available from Stormshield (Airbus CyberSecurity subsidiary), OpenDataSoft, Lockself, Vianeo, Aucae, Yogosha, Scille, Jamespot…

3/ CSR practices and societal and responsible commitments:

The CSR policy and its commitments are included in the governance of 3DS OUTSCALE and its Information Security Management System (ISMS), the basis of the ISO 27001-2013 certification. 3DS OUTSCALE is the only French Cloud player, fully LUCIE 26000 certified since 2018 as part of its CSR approach.

The LUCIE 26000 label is the benchmark label for CSR in France and is aligned with the international standard for social responsibility ISO 26000. It once again validates the company’s strong commitment.

Alongside all of its stakeholders (customers, prospects, partners, employees), 3DS OUTSCALE is striving to offer a responsible Cloud, and thus is supporting sustainable innovation that respects current and future generations.

With a committed technological ecosystem[1], 3DS OUTSCALE can now claim a decrease in energy consumption and controlled GHG emissions (changes in operating modes, technical settings, “green” solutions or machine rooms configured for maximum energy optimisation, etc.).

To corroborate its CSR commitment, 3DS OUTSCALE opts on the one hand for a responsible purchasing approach by selecting suppliers of servers and processors that consume the least energy on the market, and on the other hand for a high-performance design of its services and infrastructures, which makes it possible to achieve a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) that is lower than the world average[2].

Lastly, 3DS OUTSCALE claims responsible internal governance with a M/F index up to 83/100 vs 79/100 in 2019. The launch of the OUTSCALE for Women initiative in favour of the feminisation of digital professions in partnership with Elles bougent further affirms the company’s societal and responsible commitments.

Other initiatives such as #Actforlife during the first lockdown- which saw the deployment of the Civic Reserve in just 4 days by Scalingo – or the strong determination to accelerate the development of disruptive start-ups in health, security and smart cities through its Outscale for Entrepreneurs program, underline the efforts made by 3DS OUTSCALE in terms of CSR.

Finally, in January 2021, 3DS OUTSCALE signed the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, a European pact for climate neutral data centre by 2030.

3DS Outscale, Aruba, AWS, Coretech, Infoclip, Irideos, Leaseweb, OVHcloud, and Scaleway to declare first cloud infrastructure services adhering to SWIPO IaaS Code for data porting

Cloud customers assured of transparent data portability and switching between cloud infrastructures in support of EU Regulation to prevent “vendor lock-in” and promote choice in Europe’s digital ecosystem

Brussels, May 12th 2021 – Members of CISPE, the alliance of Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe, today declared the first twenty-one (21) cloud services meeting the requirements of the SWIPO (Switching Cloud Providers and Porting Data) Codes of Conduct for Infrastructure (IaaS). The services declared today serve millions of businesses and end-users across Europe providing cloud customers with greater control of their data.

CISPE members are the first companies to provide voluntary guidance for some of their cloud infrastructure services in support of Article 6 “Porting of Data” of the Free Flow on Non-Personal Data Regulation (EU). More companies are expected to declare their services in the coming weeks. These declarations will provide greater transparency to cloud customers on how companies support the switching process and help secure the safe transfer of data to a new provider and portability of nonpersonal data.

“The first twenty-one services were declared today by 8 CISPE members: 3DS Outscale, Aruba, Amazon Web Services (AWS), CoreTech, Infoclip, Irideos, OVHcloud and Scaleway. Today’s declarations are a milestone for cloud service providers in Europe and for the millions of customers that use these services,” said Alban Schmutz, Chairman of CISPE.

“GAIA-X will take and build-upon great cloud related initiatives like CISPE’s support for SWIPO’s IaaS Code of Conduct,” said Francesco Bonfiglio, CEO of GAIA-X.

For more than 3 years, CISPE members have worked with other cloud providers and their customers, including EuroCIO (the European non-profit organisation representing large IT users), Cigref (representing 150 large French companies and public administrations using digital solutions) and the European Commission’s Switching and Porting (SWIPO) Working Group to ensure data portability for their cloud infrastructure services. This commitment and the declaration of services made today under the SWIPO IaaS code will enable customers to switch between different cloud infrastructure services providers with greater control of their data.

About SWIPO

Launched in April 2018 and facilitated by the European Commission, the SWIPO initiative developed two Codes of Conduct for both Cloud infrastructure and Software as a Services. Both codes were handed over to the European Commission in November 2019. SWIPO AISBL non-profit association was created to manage service declarations against both codes. This mechanism and the possibility to declare services became available in 2021.

About CISPE: CISPE is an association of cloud infrastructure service providers in Europe. CISPE has 34 members with global headquarters in 14 EU Member States. CISPE has developed the first GDPR code of conduct which encourages the storage and processing of personal data exclusively in Europe. Since 2017, with EuroCIO and then with CIGREF, CISPE has co-chaired the working group developing industry Codes of Conducts which facilitate and enable data portability. This was established by the European Commission within the framework of EU Regulations on the Free Flow of non-personal Data. In addition, CISPE is among the 22 founding members of the Gaia-X initiative and the convener of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact.

Outscale Object Storage, the new storage service optimised for large data volumes

Saint-Cloud, November 17, 2020, 3DS OUTSCALE, Dassault Systèmes’ Cloud subsidiary, launches Outscale Object Storage (OOS). This secure, large-scale, resilient storage service allows enterprises to store, manipulate, and access large amounts of data in the Cloud via API.  In addition to simplifying the management of resources, Outscale Object Storage is a response to a major challenge:  processing a volume of data that is constantly increasing due to the digital transformation of organisations.

OOS: designed to meet the challenges of the digital economy

The digital transformation of organisations requires the implementation of a good data governance policy. The massive increase in data and the resulting management has become a critical issue for organisations. It’s a fact: by 2024, companies’ unstructured data stored as files or objects will triple compared to 2019*.

As an object-based storage service in the Cloud, capable of managing large amounts of unstructured data (text, multimedia files, web sites and applications, etc.), Outscale Object Storage is the answer to a significant need as expressed by companies. With a guaranteed durability of 99.99999999%, Outscale Object Storage is easily accessible from the Internet in HTTPS via REST API requests and compatible with standard market APIs to facilitate its use via standard tools such as Cyberduck or S3cmd. Outscale Object Storage is in line with the interoperability principles which are in the DNA of 3DS OUTSCALE and are supported by the GAIA-X initiative.

Finally, the Outscale Object Storage service is based on a sovereign and scalable infrastructure integrating Scality’s RING solution for better data management in Cloud environments.

We are delighted to present this new offer to the market. Outscale Object Storage is based on technology by Scality, one of the French and worldwide leaders in data storage software solutions. It is the ideal solution for companies that are increasingly confronted with the management of massive amounts of data. Companies will be able to store their sensitive or health data on our Cloud in an ever more secure way: indeed, Outscale Object Storage is available in all of our regions, two of which are SecNumCloud certified,” says David Chassan, Director of Strategy, 3DS OUTSCALE.

OOS: many capabilities for multiple benefits

Thanks to Outscale Object Storage, organisations’ data is automatically replicated for each object on different servers to ensure resilience. In addition, OOS ensures seamless continuity of updates and operations and thus maximum data availability. Outscale Object Storage accommodates large volumes of data of any size and adapts to growing storage needs. As a result, the service can scale up in parallel with the data generated by the company. Finally, Outscale Object Storage provides unlimited storage capacity on demand: only the storage actually used is charged for, for the exact duration of its use.

Features of the OOS solution:

●      Storage of objects and files in a single system

●      Distributed Storage architecture

●      Unlimited scalability

●      Data protection

●      Automatic data replication

●      Compatibility with market standards

Use Cases :

●      Data backup management

●      Data archiving

●      Big Data (Analytics & DataLakes)

●      High Performance computing (HPC)

●      Log management

●      Cloud-Native Applications (Web/ Mobile/Messaging/ Email)

A Digital Alliance for “Space” within the European initiative GAIA-X

Brussels, Luxembourg, Paris, the 17th of November 2020

A Digital Alliance for “Space” within GAIA-X

  • GAIAX’s mission is to strengthen digital European sovereignty by empowering the development of innovation data ecosystems.
  • As Space is one of the new Big Data, on 17th of November 2020, and in the context of the launch of next GAIA-X phase, four European companies announce a new cross-border alliance to accelerate the development of “Space” data value creation.

3DS OUTSCALE, CS GROUP, EBRC and RHEA Group join their forces to develop new Trusted Services for the fast growing and sensitive “Space” industry, following and thereby stimulating the European GAIA-X initiative.

This alliance, combining CS GROUP and RHEA Group, two major players in the Space Data Systems Industry with EBRC and 3DS OUTSCALE, two trusted and certified European Cloud Service Providers, will engage in developing new use cases in the Space industry guaranteeing the GAIA-X principles: European data protection, openness and transparency, authenticity and trust, European digital sovereignty, modularity and interoperability.

The GAIA-X Digital Space Alliance for Space is open to other European partners.

GAIA-X: EU’s most important digital aspiration in a generation

Gaia-X is a strategic project initiated by Europe for Europe. GAIA-X aims at developing common requirements for a federated trustworthy and secured Data Infrastructure for Europe to Europe’s data sovereignty. With GAIA-X, Europe is building the launch pad for the « Airbus of Artificial Intelligence ».

GAIA-X ensuring efficient and trusted access to space-based data and related information

The Space Industry has experienced a major growth over the last two decades, with the implementation of major European and institutional satellite programs for navigation, communication and Earth observation, as well as through strong traditional and disruptive “New Space” commercial initiatives. As a result, the amount of space-generated data has surged. Today, our everyday life heavily relies on such data within many consumer & professional applications and use cases. Our dependency on space data and the information it provides demands that such data is handled securely, robustly, accurately, and efficiently, and that its European sovereignty is assured. This is the mission that the four core partners want to stimulate through the creation of this GAIA-X Digital Space Alliance.

This initiative could help develop new services to respond to European stakes:

  • To keep the business of ground segment development and mission operation in Europe, thanks to a federation of European cloud;
  • To use the processing power of European Cloud and then generating new business for European industry;
  • To keep European Space Data in Europe and foster the creation of new European business services leveraging this data;
  • To generate and reference European Space data to ease their integration in other markets;
  • To boost the business of European Ground Stations providers;
  • To accelerate time to market of future European new space missions.

“EBRC stands for: European Business Reliance Centre. We are deeply committed to the success of the GAIA-X project and are fully aligned with the objective of this ambitious European initiative. Headquartered in Luxembourg, seat of European Institutions, EBRC considers space as a strategic fast-growing industry. We are proud to bring to this alliance our “TrustedCloudEurope” and CyberResilience expertise.”, announced Yves Reding, CEO EBRC.

Challenges for securing Space data and the related applications, and their end-users, today constitute a major concern across Europe. RHEA Group, as expert in end-to-end space engineering and space cybersecurity services, is convinced that long-term sustainability of those European societal upsides shall go through collaborative approach of the stakeholders, a secured and sovereign foundation that GAIA-X allows, and that we will leverage with our 3 core partners.”, says André Sincennes, Managing Director of RHEA Group.

“CS GROUP, expert in mission critical systems in strategic sectors especially in space industry, supports GAIA-X initiative to promote its fundamental values which are utmost importance to best serve our customers. Our open source and infrastructure agnostic strategy, which allows us to build non-locking solutions for our customers, will be an added-value to create new digital services for easier access to space: satellites, constellations and data.”, says Sylvain D’HOINE, Executive Vice President in charge of Space Activities of CS GROUP.

Through GAIA-X, we are building, all together, a sovereign and reliable digital infrastructure and an ecosystem for innovation in Europe. At the crossing of high security, reliability and sovereignty concerns, Space is among the core subjects that will deeply benefit from the GAIA-X initiative”, says Servane Augier, Chief Operating Officer at 3DS OUTSCALE.

This Space initiative under the GAIA-X project is formed by four deeply motivated companies, founding members and Day-1 members of the GAIA-X Foundation:

3DS OUTSCALE (outscale.com), the Cloud subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, places trust at the heart of its vision as a player in multi-local Cloud Computing. GAIA-X Takes Major Step Toward Sovereign European Digital Infrastructure

BRUSSELS, September 15, 2020 – The GAIA-X Initiative announced today that it is one step closer to its goal of a trustworthy, sovereign digital infrastructure for Europe, with the official signing of incorporation papers for GAIA-X AISBL (association internationale sans but lucratif), a non-profit association that will take the project to the next level. The initiative’s twenty-two founding members signed the documents in Brussels to create an association for securing funding and commitment from members to fulfill the initiative’s vision for Europe.

“We are deeply motivated to meet the challenges of the European digital economy.” said Servane AUGIER, Chief Operating Officer at 3DS OUTSCALE. “Through GAIA-X, we are building, all together, a sovereign and reliable digital infrastructure and an ecosystem for innovation in Europe. In this way, we will strengthen the digital sovereignty of businesses, research and education, governments and society as a whole. ”

While final incorporation is pending, the founding members of GAIA-X AISBL are seeking active participation and membership from national and multi-national, European and non-European companies, as well as partners in the worlds of science and politics, who share European standards and values. The association views its members as the primary drivers of progress and innovation, working closely together to define standards and prototype implementations from both provider and user perspectives.

“The BMW Group sees the future of automotive software in the cloud, whether it is about pioneering IT solutions for the development and production of premium vehicles, new digital services for our customers or innovative features in the car,” said Marco Görgmaier, Head of DevOps Platform and Cloud Technologies, The BMW Group.” Participation in the GAIA-X project is a logical step in our intention to further expand our innovative strength. The goals of the GAIA-X project—striving for data sovereignty, reducing dependencies, establishing cloud services on a broad scale and creating an open ecosystem for innovation—are fully in line with our own efforts. “

As the incorporation process is moving forward, the association will continue to set-up its head office in Brussels and establish key organizational structures. Planning is also underway for the GAIA-X Summit, scheduled for mid-November 2020. Overall, the GAIA-X founders aim to establish a culture of trust, knowledge exchange and transparency. They anticipate that as the membership of GAIA-X grows, it will be able to have an increasing impact on innovation and collaboration in the development of technical solutions and standards for business, science and society across Europe.

About GAIA-X: Launched in 2019 with the goal of developing a trustworthy and sovereign digital infrastructure for Europe, GAIA-X is a digital ecosystem regulated by its members. The initiative is working to create an environment in which data can be shared and stored under the control of data owners and users; and where rules are defined and respected, so that data and services can be made easily available, compiled and exchanged. GAIA-X has the potential to create unprecedented opportunities for innovative, data-driven business models and new solutions that help European companies of all sizes and industries to scale up and compete globally. The result will be a strong foundation for modern, next-generation infrastructure that meets the needs of business, science and society.
